Pakistani schoolgirl clinches medal at Asian Junior Boxing Championship

Ayesha Mumtaz, a schoolgirl from Sargodha, has earned a medal for Pakistan at the ongoing Asian Junior and School Boxing Championship in Al Ain City, Abu Dhabi.

Mumtaz secured her spot in the semi-finals after a stellar performance in the quarterfinals, guaranteeing her at least a bronze medal.

In her quarterfinal bout, she showcased remarkable skills and strategic prowess, defeating Vietnam’s Thi Hong Yen Nguyen.

This victory not only earned her a bronze medal but also made history for Pakistani boxing, as Mumtaz becomes the second female boxer from Pakistan to win a medal at the Asian Boxing Championships.

Competing in the pinweight (46kg) category, Mumtaz demonstrated exceptional technical abilities, with her left-handed hooks and well-executed attacks proving decisive against Nguyen, cementing her status as a formidable competitor.
