MAKKAH – Saudi Arabia has appointed new imams at the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid e-Nabawi in Madinah, the holiest places for Muslims.
Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, the head of religious affairs at the Two Holy Mosques and the imam and preacher of Masjid al-Haram, has confirmed the royal approval for the latest appointments, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Sheikh Badr Al-Turki and Sheikh Dr. Al-Waleed Al-Shamsan have been appointed as imams at Masjid al-Haram, while Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Barhaji and Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Qarafi have been appointed at Masjid-e-Nabawi.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia had also announced royal approval for the by-laws of the “King Salman Non-Profit Foundation.”
The foundation is part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ broader efforts for the welfare and wellbeing of humanity.
In a statement released on his X account, King Salman highlighted the importance of investing in people to enrich their culture and identity, emphasizing that these philanthropic efforts will continue.
