Three terrorists gunned down amid police encounter in Karachi

KARACHI – As many as three terrorists belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during a police encounter in the Southern metropolis, Karachi’s Ittehad Town.

Preliminary reports say police and law enforcement agencies conducted a joint operation on a tip-off in the area early Tuesday.

During the operation, explosives, suicide jackets, ball bearings and weapons were seized from the possession of the terrorists, two of whom are believed to be suicide bombers.

The police sources further said that the terrorists had planned to carry out an attack in the megapolis on the same lines as the one in Mastung in which 149 people were left dead days before the General Elections.

The process to identify the terrorists is under way, the sources added.

The police have launched investigations into the matter to track accomplices.
