Philippines arrest Pakistani man involved in multiple crimes

MANILA – The Philippines Bureau of Immigration on Saturday arrested a Pakistani wanted for various crimes in his country, including terrorism, rioting and murder.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Malik Muhammad Sharif, 39, was arrested in Subic in the northern Philippines by agents of the bureau and other law enforcement agencies.

He expressed that Malik, who also went by the alias Sharif Ahmad, was the subject of an Interpol red notice.

“According to Interpol, the suspect faced the death sentence in Pakistan,” Morente said. Sharif was resident of Pakistani city Sialkot.

A reporter from Philippines also tweeted pictures of the arrested Pakistani.

Morente maintained that Malik was wanted in his country for multiple crimes including double murder, attempted murder, terrorism and rioting.

It was not clear how long Malik had been hidden in the country.
