WASHINGTON = Condemning the North Korea’s escalatory launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, Pentagon said that it will defend the US and its allies against all possible threats from the state..
Chief Pentagon spokesperson Dana W. White said in a statement, “We are monitoring and continuing to assess the situation in close coordination with our regional allies and partners”.
“The launch continues to demonstrate that North Korea poses a threat to the United States and our allies,” the Pentagon spokesperson said. “Together with [South Korea], we conducted a combined exercise to show our precision fire capability.”
“We remain prepared to defend ourselves and our allies and to use the full range of capabilities at our disposal against the growing threat from North Korea,” White said.
The statement further added, “The United States seeks only the peaceful denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Our commitment to the defense of our allies, the Republic of Korea and Japan, in the face of these threats, remains ironclad”.
According to RT news, Washington had confirmed Pyongyang’s claim that it has developed the technology to potentially deliver a nuclear warhead to the US mainland.

On Tuesday, Japanese and South Korean authorities have claimed that North Korea had test-fired a ballistic missile from its western region.
According to BBC, the missile was launched at 09:40 local time (00:40 GMT), from Banghyon in North Pyongan Province on Tuesday.
North Korea claimed that it has successfully fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that “can reach anywhere in the world.”
It flew for 40 minutes and may have landed in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) after travelling 930km, Tokyo said, adding that it had strongly condemned the test, saying it was a clear violation of UN resolutions.
