ISLAMABAD – Twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi saw violent protests, resulting in the death and injuries of Islamabad police personnel.
Amid the violent confrontations, officer Abdul Hamid Shah succumbed to injuries after being brutally attacked by agitators of leading political party.
Shah, who was about to retire, sustained severe injuries while confronting protesters. He was shifted to PIMS Hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, died due to his wounds.
Islamabad police announced that his funeral prayer will be conducted shortly at the police lines. The deceased is being remembered as a dedicated member of the Islamabad who joined service in 1988 and a resident of Abbottabad, was looking forward to his retirement after years of service.
PTI decided to continue its demonstrations until receiving directives from Imran Khan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur surprised many by retreating to the KP House instead of leading the protesters. PTI’s political committee warned of serious repercussions if Gandapur is arrested and announced that Azam Swati would lead the protest in that event.
Despite the government’s crackdown on PTI members, the protests have continued, with various leaders expressing concerns about the treatment of their party’s legislators.
Mobile services restored in Islamabad, Rawalpindi amid PTI protests
