Sindh govt forms committee on Thar issue

KARACHI –  The Sindh government on Saturday constituted a committee to review the issues related to Thar with specific reference to the ongoing drought.

Chief Secretary Sindh, Mumtaz Ali Shah taking the issue seriously constituted a three-member committee comprises the planning secretary, implementation and coordination secretary and Mirpurkhas commissioner.

The chief secretary issued these directives while presiding over a meeting on drought and other issues in the Thar area.

The meeting reviewed various matters of Thar, including provision of wheat to the people, supply of fodder for their cattle heads, water supply and medical services, the role of non-governmental organisations and services being rendered by the government.

The committee wills seek reports from various departments, including health, food, agriculture, public health engineering,  planning and development and livestock relating to the details of projects being carried out in Thar.

It will study to make a Thar Development Plan for submission to the Sindh government.

Earlier, the Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed serious concern over the situation in Thar and directed Minister for National Health Services Aamer Mehmood Kiani to immediately visit Thar in Sindh and provide medical relief to the people facing severe health issues.
