We are all pretty familiar with the knows and hows of the Bollywood film industry. However, in this fabricated business full of pretentious remarks and diplomatic statements where actors and actresses alike are succumbed to live by industry conventions, Kangana Ranaut proved herself to be one courageous and critically opinionated actor from the minute she marked her place on the ‘Koffee with Karan’ couch.
Let’s see what happened..
In a recent Koffee with Karan episode featuring Rangoon stars Saif Ali Khan and the bold and striking Kanagana herself, Karan Johar kick-started his show with a long introductory appreciation speech for the leading lady and the three-time National Award winner. His statements were met with replies in the following way:
Kangana: “Karan you have been the driving force of my life. If it wasn’t for all the rejections and mocking, I wouldn’t have made it.”
Karan: “I’m not sure if I mocked you.”
Kangana: “Of course you did, you have made fun of my English on this couch.”
Kangana, in the end, did not forget to thank the host and the filmmaker for making fun of her dialect as it motivated and drove her into the right direction and proving her worth in the industry.
Kangana even took a direct shot at the host as Karan tried to twist Alia Bhatt’s comment on her airport looks:
Kangana: “Karan put the words in her mouth and then journalists took it out of context. So any issues people have with the show, they should be actually having those with you Karan.”
The love-hate relationship between the actor and director duo on set went a notch higher when Kangana requested Karan to cover a chapter on ‘nepotism’ in her biopic.
Kangana: “In my biopic, if ever it’s made, you’ll play that stereotypical Bollywood biggie, who is like you know… very snooty and completely intolerant towards outsiders, flag bearer of nepotism, the movie mafia.”
Karan, who allegedly suffers from a case of verbal diarrhea, according to Kangana, was left dumbstruck.
As if this wasn’t already enough, Kangana was on a further mission to expose and reveal Karan Johar on his show. Viewers could see her firing a few other rock-solid comments at the speechless host. Even Bollywood’s Nawab Saif Ali Khan who had accompanied Kangana on for the episode found his presence vain and pointless. At one point he was overheard saying, “What am I even doing on the show.”
Karan: “As per your experience, who’s given you more unnecessary attitude in the industry; female or male co-stars?”
Kangana: “I think, you have Karan!”

Karan: “Would you rather find true love and be poor or be rich and single?”
Kangana: “Your idea of poverty is very different from my idea of poverty.”
Karan Johar, on Monday, lashed out at the actress in rebuttal saying, “I appreciate she had great perspective and everyone lauded her because she came on my show and gave it off to Karan, according to what everyone said. I was gracious enough to keep everything. I cut none of it. I could have edited so much, it is my show. I said no, this is her opinion and let the world see it. I gave her the platform but I am done with Kangana playing the woman card, and the victim card. I am DONE! You cannot be this victim at every given point of time who has a sad story to tell about how you’ve been terrorized by the bad world of the industry… LEAVE it.”
Karan Johar spoke at length about the allegations that Kangana made against him and even added that she isn’t aware of the meaning of the so-trending word, ‘nepotism.’ Moreover, he further proved his point by claiming that he has introduced a number of almost 13 directors to the industry who had no connection with Bollywood earlier whatsoever.
Is Kangana Ranaut really playing the ‘victim card’ or ‘woman card’ without knowing the meaning of the word, ‘nepotism’? Or, can Karan Johar in reality really not take Kangana’s comments in a light-hearted manner according to the very humorous context of the show and let them go?
What do you think?
