US President Trump announces to cancel peace talks with Afghan Taliban

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump has announced to cancel peace talks with Afghanistan Taliban leaders in wake of the recent attack in Kabul that killed an American soldier and eleven other people.

In a tweet, Trump said if the Taliban cannot agree to a cease-fire during these very important peace talks, it means they probably do not have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway.

In a tweet, he said that “….an attack in Kabul that killed one of our great soldiers, and 11 other people. I immediately cancelled the meeting and called off peace negotiations”

The US president added that “What kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position? They didn’t, they….”

President Trump said he had planned a secret meeting with the Taliban’s major leaders at Camp David on Sunday, the Radio Pakistan reported.

He had also planned to meet with Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani.
