WASHINGTON – In an exclusive conversation with Pakistan’s Ambassador to the USA, Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, Haider Mehdi discussed a wide range of Pakistan-USA relationship issues.
In the interview, they discussed the recent media US onslaught against Pakistan and how the negative perspective given by our own media is affecting our international image. It was also debated that the negative perspective isn’t the only perspective about Pakistan and that the serious policy makers, analytical and think tanks, are analyzing the whole situation in a better and more comprehensive manner.

The interview goes on to discuss USA’s endgame in Afghanistan, White House policy and objectives and the impact the War on Terror has had on Pakistan and the continuing importance of Pakistan’s role in geopolitical stability. It also discusses, how the end of this war and peace in the region will benefit Pakistan.
The Ambassador highlighted that America has started to recognize and understand Pakistan’s sincerity towards bringing peace in Afghanistan and how Pakistan’s counterterrorism operations have become a case study for the world and further adds to our credibility in terms of the security lens.
Replying to a question, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of building economic relations between the two countries, his personal commitment to increasing bilateral trade and expectation that some large American companies will enter the Pakistan market as part of growing commercial ties between the two countries. He also spoke about how Pakistan’s embassy in the US is focused on the task to solidify Pakistan – America ties by rebuilding economic ties.
