Earthquake jolts Swat, Mingora, adjacent areas

PESHAWAR – A mild earthquake hit Swat, Mingora and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.

According to the National Seismological Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 115 kilometers underground. The epicenter was the Hindu Kush mountain range.

Upon feeling the tremors, residents recited the Kalma Tayyeba and rushed outside their homes. So far, no reports of casualties or damage have been received.

A moderate earthquake with magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter Scale jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

Last month, the tremors were felt throughout the twin cities and across several locations in KP. Swat, Parachinar, Malakand, Lower Dir, Hangu, Charsadda, Swabi, and their surrounding regions felt tremors.
