LAHORE (Online) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped the Punjab government from implementing a notification regarding agricultural income tax.
On Thursday, when LHC Chief Justice Justice Shahid Bilal took up the case, a local farmer took the plea that the Punjab government has started collecting agriculture income tax soon after the federal government announced the “kisan package”.
He said that the new tax was the very antithesis of the package announced by the federal government to give relief to farmers.
He requested the court to stop the provincial government from implementing the notification. Upon this, the court barred the provincial government from implementing the notification.
