RAWALPINDI – A group of five people, who were stranded in a river of Punjab, were rescued by a fast-acting contingent of Pakistan Army on Wednesday, Inter-Services Public Relations reported.
The military’s media wing stated that the people, including a woman and two girls, were trapped in the Sawan River after a sudden rise in water level.
An army helicopter was used to save them from drowning, the ISPR said, adding that the rescued persons have been shifted to the safe place. It is yet to be confirmed that the people are tourists or locals.
The Soan River also referred to as the Swan, Sawan, or Sohan, is a river in Punjab. It starts near the small village of Bun in the foothills of Patriata and Murree.
