Karachi left powerless due to fault in high tension line

KARACHI (Staff Report) – Around 65 per cent area of Karachi was Friday morning left without power after a high tension transmission line tripped due to light showers.

According to information available with Daily Pakistan Global, the electricity breakdown took place at 7:00am in the morning. The affected areas Defence Housing Authority (DHA), PECHS, Clifton, , Saddar, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Landhi, Nazimabad and North Nazimabad.

Citizens said that electricity was restored in some areas of Clifton, DHA and Shah Faisal Colony at 11:15am, however most areas of city are still without electricity.

A spokesman for K-Electric, the power company for electricity transmission in the port city, said that breakdown occurred due to a technical fault and special engineering teams are working to restore electricity. It will take some hours to fully resume electricity supply in the city.
