13 Reasons Why becomes a dreaded REALITY as teenager attempts suicide

A 23-year-old boy who recently succumbed to his tragedy by attempting suicide and leaving behind recordings for his friends, inspired by the well-received Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, is making rounds over the internet.

According to reports, Franco Medrano jumped off from the balcony of his fourth-floor apartment after yelling, “I can’t stand a heartbreak.” His mother was present during the act.

Medrano, surprisingly, survived the fall but was pronounced dead as soon as he reached the hospital.

The police found two suicide notes in his home, one to a woman named Claudia and another that listed names of people who were to be the receivers of his recorded tapes, as essayed in the popularly streamed TV show. He claimed that these people were the ones who caused him to commit suicide.

While neither of the notes directly gave direct reference to 13 Reasons Why, leaving behind tapes gave an indication of the main plot point of the Netflix hit.

Latest News claims that a Canadian school is attempting to ban students from talking about the series in the open. Also, according to mental health organizations, this show is already being claimed as ‘dangerous’ to those at risk.

Netflix is on its way to strengthen trigger warnings for season 2 of the much-awaited series, in order to stop vulnerable people from watching something that could be harmful to their mental health.

The show’s co-creator Selena Gomez has defended the show, saying, “I understood that we were going into something that is difficult, but these kids today are so exposed to things that I would never even have comprehended when I was eight.

“With so much happening all over and latest instances such as that of Medrano on the line, ’13 Reasons Why’ may find itself in big trouble if it continues to grow onwards.”
