NEW YORK (Web Desk) – Iraq’s former President Saddam Hussein had a secret torture chamber in the upscale neighbourhood of New York city for torturing and killing prisoners, it has been learnt.
The basement of the five-storey Mission of Iraq located in posh Upper East Side block near Central Park served as the torture chamber.
Shedding light on the gruesome details about what happened behind lush doors, anonymous officials disclosed untold stories.
“It was a dark room. The doors were reinforced in a way that nobody could break in or out. You didn’t need to sound proof it,” one official said. The other official added, “You’re not going to hear someone screaming down there.”
According to the New York post, Agents of Mukhabarat abducted Iraqis who had fled his regime for America and brought them to be tortured inside Mission of Iraq. At the time, it was immune from American law as sovereign Iraqi territory.
The bodies of the prisoners were then sent back to Iraq and no one was allowed to see those.
An official privy to the harrowing stories detailed that the prisoners were brought to a windowless room in the basement where they faced bloodthirsty abuse.
Rubber hoses, planks of wood and pliers were involved, it is claimed.
“The doors were reinforced in a way that nobody could break in or out. You didn’t need to soundproof it,” one official said.
Saddam Hussain served as the fifth President of Iraq. He rose to power in 1979 and remain in office till 2003. He was executed in 2006 after being convicted of crimes against humanity by the Iraqi Special Tribunal for the murder of 148 Iraqi Shi’ites in the town of Dujail in 1982, in retaliation for an assassination attempt against him.
