SWAT – An earthquake measuring 5.0 magnitude on Richter scale jolted Swat and surrounding areas on Wednesday.
According to meteorological department, depth of the earthquake was 90 kilometers with the epicenter determined at Pakistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area. The tumbler created panic in the people but no loss of life and property has yet been reported as it was a mild earthquake.
Pakistan is located in one of the most earthquake prone areas with high vulnerability to earthquakes. Geographically, the country lies in the collision zone of the India tectonic plate to the south and the Eurasian plate to the north.
