Sleepless this Ramzan? Something needs to be taken care of

It just niggles when counting sheep doesn’t work anymore. Sleeplessness might hit anyone at any point in life but the month of Ramzan features most cases of insomnia. We wondered why.

In Ramzan, our routines are reset.  We eat differently. We work less. We drink almost nothing. An alteration in one’s daily working patterns is in itself a major reason for sleeping disorders. Let’s peep into individual reasons for sleepless nights in Ramazan.

Dehydration:

Fasting drains your body of all the reserved salts and moisture as we drink lesser water than on normal days. A dehydrated body is unable to rest or go to sleep. So the first thing you need to consider before sleeping is to have some water. Try taking juices during Sehar and Iftar will compensate for the lost minerals.

Unhealthy Iftars:

Our Iftars are choc-full with spicy and oily foods that mess up our insides. A burning stomach or high cholesterol often causes restlessness.

Vigor:

When fasting, we  tend to work less and stop exercising. Instead, we prefer to stay indoors reading books or offering prayers. This helps the energy stay in the body as the body doesn’t exhaust.  A body that has all its energy preserved is more likely to stay active at night. Make sure you are draining an appropriate amount of energy during the day so your body is tired enough to deserve some rest.
