Suicide bomber killed by Rangers in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD – A suspected suicide bomber was killed while another escaped as Rangers thwarted bid to enter an Imam Bargah and shrine in Hyderabad on Friday.

Soldiers of paramilitary Rangers were on their routine patrolling when they spotted a suspect inside Imami Shah Colony graveyard.

“As Rangers approached him, he fired shots on soldiers and hurled a hand grenade,” Rangers spokesman said

Rangers personnels retaliated by killing the suspect. Rangers also recovered a suicide vest from the suspect which was later defused by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) in the said graveyard.

Police and Rangers cordoned off the scene and started a search operation in the area, announcing a security Red Alert for mosques and imambargahs of the city.

The dead body of the suspect, who is yet to be identified, would later be shifted to Civil Hospital for a postmortem.
