ISLAMABAD – Hackers tracing their origin to India tried to hack the website of ministry of foreign affairs Pakistan, it emerged on Saturday.

Hackers, based in India, made the website inaccessible from various countries, however, they were not successful in defacing the portal as the technical team of the ministry handled the attack well in time.

The attack came days after the Pulwama suicide bombing that left 44 Indian soldiers dead. India pinned the blame on Pakistan for the attack without any credible evidence in this regard.

The attack is the worst in decades of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir, India’s only Muslim majority state. Analysts claim that the attack might have been a false flag owing to the upcoming elections in India as anti-Pakistan sentiments are whipped up to garner support.

India had in the past tried to hack website of important departments of Pakistan confirming that the perception of fifth generation warfare was true in reality as the cyberspace was now being used as a front to target the rivals.
