The thing that Erdogan hated saved him last night

TURKEY (Web Desk) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, known for his hostility to social networks, brushed off the frenzy surrounding Apple’s new iPhone 6 back in 2014, but he never knew that the same iPhone will one day save his government.

Last night when a rebel group revolted against the Erdogan led government, Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, appeared on a cable news show to deliver a speech using Apple’s FaceTime video chat app.

“There is no power higher than the power of the people,” he said in a night of wild confusion and contradictory accounts of who was in control. “Let them do what they will at public squares and airports. Erdogan said via iPhone’s FaceTime feature.

It is relevant to mention that Erdogan showed no interest in iPhone 6 as it was launched but his yesterday’s speech through the same gadget must have made him revise his hostility towards technology.

“This brand brings out a new model pretty much every year,” Erdoğan said in a televised speech in Istanbul. “But in fact it (the iPhone 6) is not really different from last year’s version,” he said after the new iPhone was rolled out in 2014.
