Senior IS commander killed in Syria

DAMASCUS (Web Desk) – US Military Special Operations forces have carried out a raid inside Syria and have killed a senior Islamic State Commander, CNN has reported citing unnamed sources.

The network reports that Abu Sayyaf was targeted as US commandos flew into eastern Syria to carry out the raid.

The report further claimed that wife of the senior IS leader was also arrested by the special forces and none of the personnel was hurt during operation.

Pentagon and the White House have confirmed the reports.

The assault comes a day after Islamic State militants took control of most areas in Iraqi city of Ramadi and hoisted their black flag at the governorate building to announce the victory. The intensive fight still continues in most parts of the city.
