Imran Farooq Murder Case: FIA submits interim charge-sheet to ATC

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday submitted an interim charge-sheet in Imran Farooq murder case to Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).

On the occasion, the court also rejected the bail plea of all three accused in the case including Muazzam Ali, Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim. The court further directed the FIA to complete the challan as soon as possible.

The interim challan termed Mohsin Ali as the prime suspect in the murder case while Khalid and Moazzam have been called his facilitators.

It also delineated information about the travel history of the accused, along with the statements of as many as four travel agents. Statements of all three accused have also be included in the charge-sheet.

Noted leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Dr Imran Farooq was found murdered near his apartment in Green Lane, Edgware, London on September 16, 2010.

The case is being investigated into in Landon and meanwhile Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also registered an alike case in Islamabad.

The FIR was registered in December last year, under Sections 302, 34, 109 and 120B of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), and 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act.

Besides the MQM chief Ataf Hussain, other nominated accused are Iftikhar Hussain, Moazzam Ali Khan, Khalid Shamim, Kashif Khan Kamran and Syed Mohsin Ali.

In September last year, Mohsin Ali confessed to Scotland Yard investigators of being involved in the brutal murder of Dr Imran Farooq, the MQM’s founding leader, in London.

A three-member investigation team, comprising Scotland Yard’s senior officers, met Mohsin Ali and conducted his interview in Pakistan.
