Lizard on runway delays flight in Saudi Arabia

JEDDAH (Web Desk) – Pilot of a Saudi flight aborted take-off on Monday after seeing a desert lizard strolling on the runway just near the aircraft.

The plane was due to take off from the airport in the central town of Al Qasseem when the captain was told about the lizard by the passengers.

A female passenger took a shot of the reptile by her mobile phone and showed to a stewardess, who informed the pilot, Sada newspaper reported.

The pilot came to the rear of the aircraft and saw the lizard strolling on the runway. He aborted take-off until a police car came and expelled the lizard, the newspaper said without mentioning how the lizard sneaked to the tarmac.

The captain later took off without incidents.
