KARACHI – The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has added conical baffle charges in monthly gas bills under its geyser campaign ahead of winter season.
Reports said the company is collecting additional amount of Rs2,085 from consumers in wake of conical baffle, which is used in geysers, charges. The move has left the millions of SSGC customers upset as most of them do not have geyser facility at their homes.
It is being reported that consumers received bills with additional charges regardless of whether geysers were installed in their homes.
Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a clarification, stating that the installation of conical baffles has been authorised to ensure safety and reduce gas bills for consumers.
The OGRA spokesperson asked the consumers facing additional charges without having a geyser should file complaints with the company.
The SSGC officials told media that surveys were conducted for the installation of conical baffles, and charges were applied after getting approval from OGRA.
SSGC has asked its customers to contact the nearest Customer Facilitation Center (CFC) for any complaints regarding conical baffles.
