BEIJING – All is set for the first ever Chinese-Pakistani strategic dialogue in Beijing, at the level of the countries’ foreign ministers, Wang Yi and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, during which the two top dignitaries, will address regional and international issues of common interests.
Earlier on Monday, Qureshi arrived in the Chinese capital ahead of the event for a three-day visit. The Pakistani diplomat will be co-chairing the strategic dialogue together with his Chinese counterpart.

As part of the dialogue, the two sides are expected to discuss the recent deterioration in relations between Islamabad and New Delhi in the disputed Kashmir region.
Beijing and Islamabad are also set to address the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative an infrastructure project aimed at boosting regional integration, and envisaging the development of transportation systems and energy projects in Pakistan, among other things, and the connection of Pakistan’s Gwadar Port with China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region through transportation routes.
