Over the years, Home Alone has become a must-watch Christmas movie, and Google is taking advantage of the 90’s children favorite movie series with a hilarious new ad.
The newly released ad “Home Alone Again” features Macaulay Culkin reprising his role of Kevin McCallister, but this time in a smart home powered by Google Assistant.
Unlike the original movie, Kevin is not really “Home Alone,” but rather in a house with various Google Assistant gadgets.
This includes the Google Home Hub, a Pixel 2 XL, Home Mini, and Nest Hello door camera. A variety of other smart gadgets are used, including a propped up mannequin attached to a Roomba in order to simulate people and movement.
So, after 28 years McCallister house is activated by a Google Assistant Routine. Interesting!!!

The video is both a nostalgic revisiting of the 1990’s hit series and a clever way to show off what Google’s voice-activated devices can do.
In the ad, Kevin is seen operating a Google Home Hub, Google Home Mini, and his phone to check his calendar, set reminders, order pizza and adjust the house temperature.
The narrative this time plays out very differently from the movie. The thieves never make it inside thanks to a Google-triggered “Operation Kevin” that activates the front door’s smart lock and sets a whole sequence of house-protecting events into motion.
Also, sharing the fantastic advertising with the viewers, Google had tweeted on Wednesday (yesterday) saying: “Turns out it’s a lot easier to defend your house from bandits when you have the Google Assistant”.

The video clip on the “Make Google Do It” tagline first introduced at CES earlier this year.
