KARACHI (Web Desk) – The student from Iqra University who was kidnapped by unknown people on Monday was thrown from a moving car in Mahmoodabad area with his body covered in fire-flames. The criminals have also threatened that if the operation is not stopped then students will be continued to set on fire. Police has arrested a rickshaw-driver who has stated that he had dropped the student Haris at Defence and a girl was also with him.
According to details unknown men threw the youngster and his luggage from a moving car on midnight between Thursday and Friday. The locals put off the fire flames on his body and got him admitted in Burn ward of Civil Hospital where he is being given medical treatment. Doctors say that 35% of his body has been burnt, however he is out of danger now.
While under treatment in hospital, Haris told the investigative groups that he was picked by men in a double-cabin red vehicle and he was taken to Defence area where he was severely tortured. Afterwards he was put on fire and thrown from moving car while the offenders also asked for their demands to be fulfilled. Haris says the gang comprised of four men and one girl who were all communicating in Pashto, due to which he was unable to understand them fully.
Haris’ father says that his son has been kidnapped before as well even though he has no enemies and a case was registered in Baloch Colony. On the other hand, the rickshaw-driver who dropped Haris at Defence said that he was not alone and a lady was also with him. Rs. 250 was settled as the fare but when they reached Defence, Haris gave him Rs. 230 saying that he did not have change.
After the statement by Rickshaw driver, the investigation has taken a new turning. Police has now included university and people with contacts in its inquiry. It is being inspected whether this incident is the outcome of personal enmity or it involves terrorism.
