LAHORE – Social media website Facebook in collaboration with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) launches a campaign to help Pakistani voters.
The new campaign helps voters to identify their constituencies and make sure their votes are registered.
According to an estimate, over 33 million Pakistanis use the social media platform.
Pakistani users receive a pop up in their news feed when they log onto the social media platform which reads, “Are you registered to vote? Text your CNIC to 8300 to make sure that you’re registered to vote in the election. SMS fees may apply.”
Clicking on the pop-up users’ redirects to the ECP’s website where additional information about the electoral process is available for the assistance of voters.
Earlier this month, Facebook had collaborated with the federal body to ensure the safety of users during the election season.

Moreover, ECP to facilitate voters launches an application ‘Click ECP’.
The application voters can check their registration status, polling station information and constituency, The application is available to for Android users on Google Play.
Earlier, another private company, TRL Trakker had developed an application to guide voters to their respective polling stations in order to ensure a good turnout of voters on Election Day.

The TPL Map application allows users to track routes from their locations to the polling station by entering their polling station number.
