Cricket Analyst Dr Nauman Niaz wins battle against Cancer, announces return to Pakistan ahead of World Cup

ISLAMABAD – Renowned Pakistani cricket commentator, Dr Nauman Niaz has announced that he would be returning to Pakistan this week after having gone through a ‘tough’ medical procedure.

The head of PTV sports took to Twitter on Monday and announced that he would return to Pakistan from London on 24th April after being cleared up by the team of doctors.

Niaz recounted the procedures he had been through including ‘biopsies, PeT Scans, Rt. hemicolectomy, Rt. adrenalectomy & multiple stents’ saying, Allah is the greatest.

In another tweet, the sports analyst expressed that his father was a mentor to him who gave him pieces of advice after being told that he [Niaz] was diagnosed with cancer.

Dr Nauman Niaz was diagnosed with cancer last year and had left for London for a bone marrow transplant in November; while on his way to London, Niaz expressed that he had a fulfilling life without any complaints.

Dr Nauman Niaz has, under his belt, vast experience in covering sports. He has also anchored Sports Programme “Game on Hai” on PTV Sports in which the former Cricketers Rashid Latif, Abdul Razzaq and Muhammad Wasim etc participated as guests.

Nauman Niaz is also a cricket correspondent, cricket historian, writer, and anchorperson. Another feather in the cap of Niaz is that he also remained the Media Coordinator and the Media Manager of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 1990s.

Niaz return to the country weeks before the ICC Cricket World Cup is joyful for cricket enthusiasts who have been waiting to listen to the analyst alongside the high-octane clashes scheduled to be played in the UK.
