Now Indian women can urinate while standing

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – It was a huge relief when Narendra Modi launched the ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in October 2014, to improve the poor state of sanitation in the country. Honestly, the country needs a massive push towards building and maintaining hygienic facilities.

At present, most of the public toilets in the country will make you faint even before you are halfway through. While most men take to the street corners for relief, women are left to bear the discomfort. So, what do women who really need to pee do?

A New Delhi based start-up aims to help women across India overcome the problems of urinating in unhygienic public toilets. Made from waterproof cardboard, Pee Buddy is a single use funnel which allows women to micturate without having to squat on a dirty toilet seat and risk infection.

How to use it:

The user simply needs to hold Pee Buddy between her legs, directly under the flow area and tilt their hips slightly forward, ensuring the funnel is tilted downwards. Having poured the urine into the toilet, they should dispose the product in the nearest bin.

This is the brainchild of Delhi-based entrepreneur Deep Bajaj who came up with the idea during one of the road trips he took with his friends. The wife of a friend complained about not finding a clean toilet on the journey.

After having perfected the product, Bajaj and his partners tried to market it but they were shown the door as distributors and store owners couldn’t understand that something like this can actually work. Eventually his persistence paid off, when he successfully sought recommendations for Pee Buddy from gynecologists and obstetricians.

The product can save you from contracting Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) from a dirty toilet seat as they are a breeding ground for bacteria.

Priced at around Rs 20 per unit, Pee Buddy is available in packs of five, 10, and 20.
