NEW YORK (Web Desk) – In a startling development linked with the Orlando massacre, a man who claims to have been Omar Mateen’s gay lover for two months has said that Pulse nightclub shooting incident was an act of revenge, not terrorism.
In an interview with Spanish language channel Univision Noticias, the man told anchor Maria Elena Salinas that Mateen went on to kill 49 people at the nightclub after a man who had sex with him revealed that he was HIV-positive.
Responding to a question, he said that Omar Mateen was a confused, homosexual person who drank heavily. Mateen also had a grudge against his nightclub fellows as he felt used by the men at Pulse, he added.
When asked why he decided to come forward and reveal the story of Omar Mateen, the man said he was a responsible citizen who felt it right to disclose the truth.
He also claimed to have been interviewed by FBI officials three times in person after he approached the investigation agency in connection with the shooting incident.
