ISTANBUL – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has reached Turkey on Friday to attend an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Islamophobia after Christchurch massacre.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will chair the meeting to which apart from the OIC members, the representatives of the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) are also invited.

The OIC emergency meeting will be held in Istanbul today to discuss the terror attacks on two mosques in New Zealand and increasing violence based on Islamophobia.
A statement was published by the Turkish foreign ministry on Thursday said that “Turkey, as the OIC Summit Chair, has called upon holding an emergency meeting for discussing the increasing violence based on Islamophobia, racism and xenophobia, in particular the terrorist attack that targeted two mosques in New Zealand on 15 March 2019,” the statement said.

Furthermore, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will hold meetings with his counterparts from Turkey, Iran and New Zealand.
The meeting will also discuss the efforts to protect and support Muslim communities throughout the world.
