23-year old man arrested over Manchester attack

MANCHESTER – A man has been arrested over the terror attack at Manchester Arena.

The 23-year-old man was arrested in South Manchester the morning after the bomb and in relation to the attack, according to Greater Manchester Police, The Independent reported.

A spokesman from Greater Manchester Police said: “With regards to the ongoing investigation into last night’s horrific attack at the Manchester arena, we can confirm we have arrested a 23-year-old man in South Manchester.”

Nick Yates tweeted: “Black Merc full of non-uniform police in face masks just arrested someone outside Morrisons in #Chorlton”

Theresa May held an emergency COBRA meeting this morning with ministers to discuss the horrific incident.

She said: “It is now beyond doubt that the people of Manchester and of this country have fallen victim to a callous terrorist attack, an attack that targeted some of the youngest people in our society with cold calculation. “

At least 22 people were killed and more than 59 injured after an explosion at an Ariana Grande concert in a crowded Manchester concert hall, which left hundreds of people fleeing in terror.

Strategists are saying that Monday’s suspected suicide attack on Manchester Arena was likely yet another lone-wolf incident rather than the work of international terror networks, according to CNBC.

The chief constable of Greater Manchester police said the attacker who detonated the improvised explosive device (IED) was acting alone, but an investigation is being conducted to establish whether if he was part of a broader network.
