PM presentd first draft of amend to curb horse-trading

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The legal committee formed with the aim to eliminate horse-trading has presented the first draft of an amendment to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, official sources said on Wednesday.

The committee has suggested that the voting takes place on ballot papers as per the 1973 Constitution, but it should not be secret. The ballot should contain the name of the candidate as well as the person casting the vote. The draft also states party membership of a person voting for a non-party candidate should be suspended.

The prime minister, on the occasion, said, “Contact with political parties should be positive and Senate elections should be made fair at every cost.” The political parties had expressed reservations over the ‘show of hands’ suggestion.
