Former TV legend Roohi Bano passes away

ISTANBUL – Renowned Pakistani television and stage actor Roohi Bano passed away on Friday, her sister Yasmeen confirmed. She was 67 years old.

According to Bano’s sister, the actor had been on the ventilator for the last 10 days in a hospital in Turkey and had been suffering from kidney failure.

Bano, a well-educated and presidential award-winning actor, had also been suffering from schizophrenia. She was said to have gone into a pit of depression after her only son, Ali was murdered in 2005.

Bano joined the world of television while she was still studying. She is best known for her work during the 1970s and 80s, in dramas such as Qila Kahani, Zard Gulab, Hairat Qadah, Darwaza and Kiran Kahani.

According to reports, she used to visit Fountain House for her mental treatments and a room was given over to her from where her sister has brought her home.
