LAHORE – Muslims around the globe are observing the Holy Month of Ramazan with reverence, however, many of them are confused about the Kaffara and Fidyah for skipping or intentionally breaking their fast.
Fidyah and Kaffara are mentioned in the Qur’an in the selection below:
According to Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the minimum amount of Fidaya is Rs100 and Kafrah Rs6,000 respectively per fast.
As per the Islamic principles, individuals can also pay an amount of Fidaya set to the scale of the price of the following:
- Rs100 per day for wheat
- Rs240 per day for barley
- Rs1,600 per day for dates
- Rs1,920 per day for raisins
The Kuffara for leaving a fast is Rs6,000 at the scale of wheat, Rs14,400 for barley, Rs96,000 for dates and Rs1,15,200 for raisins.
