G-7 summit kicks off in Japan

TOKYO (News Desk) – The annual summit of Group 7 (G-7) countries has begun in Japan on Thursday (today).

Several world leaders including United States President Barack Obama have arrived in Japan to attend the summit.

The summit leaders are likely to discuss the world economy, maritime security, China’s expanding presence in disputed areas of the South China Sea, funding for fighting terrorism, global pandemics and women’s empowerment.

The G-7 group consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and the United States. Its members have a share of 46% of the global GDP.
