Finance Minister Miftah Ismail quotes Ghalib s poetry incorrectly during budget speech

ISLAMABAD – The Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail unveiled Rs 5.246 trillion “tax-free” budget for the fiscal year 2018-19 amid ruckus in the National Assembly on Friday.

It is for the first time that an elected government has presented the federal budget for the sixth time.

However, the finance minister at the end of his speech recited the verse of legendary Urdu poet Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib. The verse was incorrectly typed in his speech. In the second line of the verse word, “Halankay” was incorrect, Ghalib had used the word “Harchand”.
