PFA seals Punjab Civil Secretariat s cafeteria over substandard food

LAHORE – The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Thursday sealed the main canteen of Civil Secretariat and a coffee bar in Qaddafi Stadium for selling unhygienic and sub-standard food.

During the raids carried on the directions of Director General Noor ul Amin Mengal, a team of the PFA sealed Civil Secretariat’s canteen for using rotten fruits and vegetables, improper cleanliness arrangements, an abundance of insects, usage of rusted freezers and for using expired ingredients.

Besides that, the PFA sealed a TM Coffee Bar over expired products, insects in sweet trays, stinky environment and not having a food license.

The PFA teams also conducted raids in the different zones of Lahore including Iqbal Town, Mughalpura, Gulberg, Johar Town, Mazang, Thokar Niaz Baig, Wagha Town, Shadrah and its surrounding areas.

It also imposed Rs 43,000 fine over violation of provincial food law and served warning notices for improvement on 58 food points.
