New Zealand s vlogger cuts short Pakistan tour after alleged surveillance by spy agencies

ISLAMABAD – Karl Rock, a famous vlogger from New Zealand, has claimed that he has to cut short his Pakistan tour after he was subjected to strict surveillance by the country’s secret services.

Rock entered Pakistan through the Wagah border, a month back and had planned to visit Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar city of the country, and as he spoke Hindi and Urdu, he did not find it difficult to exchange greetings with Pakistani people but the scrutiny by the intelligence agencies irked him.

Sharing his experience, the technology expert asserted that his Peshawar visit rang alarm bells in the power corridors and the secret service of Pakistan kept chasing him.

While entering Pakistan, Rock explained to a security official that one of his friends resided in Peshawar, following which the country’s intelligence officials also got in touch with him and sought reasons for the visit.

The vlogger also expressed that there was nothing wrong with the inspection due to the nature of his tour, however, decried that he felt paranoid after being under surveillance, to that extent.

He stated that besides him, his Peshawar-based friend also received suspicious phone calls from the secret service, who interviewed him as well.

“My friend was also told not to take me along to the Khyber Pass or the famous gun market in Peshawar,” claimed the visitor.

He, however, shared that the people in Pakistan were too nice and the problem rests with the government and the secret service.

Let it be known that it’s a standard practice that the tourists visiting from other countries are kept under surveillance, however, the scrutiny riled the tourist.
