Are you on a diet but are unable to make proper high-protein breakfasts in the morning?
Fruit smoothies in the morning are the easiest deal-breaker for someone who’s running late for work (like myself). Here’s a quick kitchen hack for a nice, refreshing smoothie in the morning!
For starters, you will need:
- Frozen, sliced fruits
- A plastic sealed bag to freeze the fruit in
Simple as that! The next step is buying ‘Greek Yogurt’. It doesn’t necessarily have to be Greek Yogurt, however, if weight loss is your ultimate goal, using non-fat Greek Yogurt is a safer option as it has 100 calories, 17 grams of protein and 6 grams of carbs. In plain, non-fat yogurt, there are higher carbs and lower proteins.
The next step is half a cup of pineapple juice, or orange juice. It all depends on your taste; if you want to have more tinges of sour you can go for the orange one, and for the sweeter taste choose pineapple.
After half a cup of pineapple juice (assuming) has been added to the blender, put in the mixture of fruits you are craving to have (Bananas, pineapples, papayas) you can choose a couple of fruits as per your liking. Put the greek yogurt in and mix well (blend).
Add a bit of ginger for a refreshing touch, and voila! Your smoothie is ready!
Side note: Empty Starbucks coffee bottles can be great smoothie glasses! Just poke a hole into the top with a hammer & nail and you’re done! They look fun & colourful too.
