DUBAI – Australia defeated Pakistan by 20 runs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium to complete a 5-0 whitewash in the five-match series on Sunday.
Sent into bat first, Australia set a mammoth total of 327 runs in 50 overs. opener Usman Khawaja scored 98 runs.
Glenn Maxwell smashed 33-ball 70, Shaun Marsh scored 68-ball 61 and skipper Aaron Finch made 69-ball 53 to lead a run spree against a helpless Pakistan bowling attack.
In reply, team Pakistan only managed to score 305 runs in its chase courtesy 130 runs from Haris Sohail and a half-century from skipper Imad Wasim. Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal also scored 43 runs.
Shoaib Malik has been ruled out from the final match due to injury. Imad Wasim has captained the Pakistan side.
The visitors won the first two ODIs by eight wickets before claiming the series with an 80-run out. Aaron Finch’s men then won the fourth ODI by six runs to leave Pakistan on the brink of a clean sweep.
Both sides have made one change to their playing XI. Pakistan brings Mohammad Abbas in place of Mohammad Hasnain. Australia replaces Nathan Coulter-Nile with Jason Behrendorff.
Ahsan Raza and Michael Gough will be the on-field umpires while Kumar Dharmasena will be the third umpire for the match.
