LAHORE – Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has formed a full bench to hear the case related to recent incidents of rape and suicide at educational institutions.
The chief justice announced this decision while hearing a petition related to the harassment cases, adding that the bench will hear the case on Tuesday.
While talking about viral videos following the alleged rape incident at private college in Lahore, the chief justice questioned why the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab did not took steps to stop the content from spreading on social media.
At which, the IG replied that police had approached the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to get the videos deleted from social media.
The chief justice reprimanded the police chief over delayed action, stating that it was the failure of police that students took to streets for protests.
The IGP told high court that the police had identified over 700 accounts involved in the incident, adding that PTA had the authority to delete them.
Later, the chief justice said that the full bench would hear these cases on Tuesday and ordered the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct inquiries into the matter.
