ADEN (Web Desk/Agencies) – At least 55 people were killed on Friday in two bombings targeting Houthi mosques in the Yemeni capital Sanaa, rescuers and official sources said.
The two blasts struck the Badr and Al-Hashoush mosques frequented by supporters of the Shia Houthi militants, according to an Anadolu Agency reporter.
A Yemeni security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggested that the twin blasts might have been carried out by suicide bombers.
This is the first time for political violence to reach mosques in Sanaa, since it was seized by the Houthis last September.
No group has so far, claimed responsibility for the blasts.
