Afghanistan Win Toss Elect To Bat First Against Sri Lanka In Asia Cup 2025

ABU DHABI – Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets to qualify for the Super Four stage in the Asia Cup 2025.

In the 11th match of the event played at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan’s captain Rashid Khan won the toss and opted to bat first against Sri Lanka.

Batting first, Afghanistan scored 169 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Nabi was the standout performer with 60 runs, while Ibrahim Zadran and Rashid Khan scored 24 each. Sediqullah made 18 runs, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 14 runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the target in 19th over with six wickets in hand, knocking Afghanistan out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong has already been eliminated after losing all three of its matches. Sri Lanka’s win not only secured their place in the Super Four but also carried Bangladesh along with them.
