BAGHDAD (Web Desk) – An IS fighter recently posted images of two Yazidi women with a caption “She is for sale” on Facebook.
The fighter believed to be a German national who goes by the name of Abu Assad Almani on Facebook posted images of two Yazidi women, who had been held by IS militants as slaves for several months, sitting in a tent outside Duhok with a signs saying “She is for sale.”
One of the images shows a young girl, believed to be 18 years old. The second woman is believed to be in her early 30s.
“To all the bros thinking about buying a slave, this one is $8,000,” begins the May 20 Facebook posting, which was attributed to an Islamic State fighter who calls himself Abu Assad Almani. The same man posted a second image a few hours later, this one a pale young face with weepy red eyes.
“Another sabiyah [slave], also about $8,000,” the posting reads. “Yay, or nay?”
According to The Washington Post, the photos were taken down within hours by Facebook. The ISIS fighter who posted the image on Facebook has been identified as a German national, who had fled the country to join the Islamic State in Syria and is believed to be operating out of Raqqa.
After putting up his post, the IS fighter engaged in discussion with people in the comments section about whether $8,000 was a “good price or not”.
The comments on his posts, for the most part, either mocked the looks of the women, or chided Almani for posting pictures of women not wearing the veil.
