LAHORE (Staff Report) – Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman (PCB) Shaharyar Khan on Thursday said that Zimbabwe is willing to tour Pakistan and play a five ODI matches series in next month.
The chairman, addressing a press conference, said “they have formally contacted us and we have told them they could come in May. The weather will be very hot but it will a big thing for us if they come”.
Khan told the reporters that he will hold talks with Zimbabwe Cricket Union in this regard next week and expect the matter will be settled.
Three of the five ODI matches will be played in Lahore whereas Karachi will host the other matches, he said answering a question.
PCB chairman also informed the reporters that the doors of international cricket are slowly opening in Pakistan and Namibia and Nepal are interested in touring Pakistan but the problem is our team is not free at the moment.
Zimbabwe would be the first test-playing country to tour Pakistan since gunmen attacked the Sri Lanka cricket team bus in Lahore in 2009.
Afghanistan and Kenya visited Pakistan in the last couple of years but none of the nine other test-playing nations has toured Pakistan for the last six years.
