ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) resumed its scheduled flights between Islamabad and Chitral on Friday, days after an ATR plane tragically crashed near Havelian on Wednesday.
Flight PK661 flew from Islamabad to Peshawar and then moved on to Chitral, where it landed at 1pm.
An ATR plane was used to conduct this flight which carried 48 passengers, including the flight crew.
The same ATR took off from Chitral at 3:50pm to reach Islamabad.
A flight enquiry official while talking to a leading daily confirmed that no tickets were cancelled or withdrawn in light of the Dec 7 plane crash that claimed 48 lives.
On the other hand, investigations into the deadly crashed regarding PK-661 are still underway and PIA spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft was fit for flying quelling rumours regarding any fault in PK-661.
The black box of the plane was transported to Karachi for initial decoding however, it would be sent to France for a detailed analysis and to what went wrong.
The plane took off from Chitral around 3:50PM and PIA said the plane crashed at 1642 local time (1142 GMT) in the Havelian area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, about 125 km north of Islamabad.
