ISLAMABAD – High Commission of Pakistan in India has started efforts for the release of two Pakistani teenagers held on suspicion of facilitating Uri attack by India, sources said.
The sources said that the Pakistani high commissioner has raised the issue with Indian authorities, adding that the teenagers have established telephonic contact with their families.
They added that Indian authorities have agreed that both had crossed the border mistakenly.
The commission is pursuing the case for the last four months, adding that legal team of the Pakistani high commission is providing full assistance in the case.
Faisal Awan and his friend Ahsan Khursheed were arrested on September 21, three days after the Uri attack in which 19 Indian soldiers were killed.
On January 21, Pakistan Army handed over Sepoy Chandu Babulal Chohan, an Indian Army Soldier who willfully crossed Line of Control (LOC), to Indian authorities at Wagah Border on humanitarian grounds on Saturday.
